We often ask: “How much time do I have?” But rarely ask: “How much energy do I have?”
Energy, not time, is the ultimate currency of performance. You can have all the time in the world but if you’re emotionally depleted, nothing flows.

🔍 The 4 States of Emotional Energy
Your emotional state can usually be mapped to one of these four quadrants:
Knowing which state you’re in helps you take the right next step—not just power through.
🎯 Try This: The Energy Check-In Tool (3 min)
Take 3 minutes. Ask yourself:
- What’s the dominant emotion I’ve felt this week?
- What quadrant am I operating from right now?
- What does my body need right now: Activation or Recovery?
- What is one small thing I can do today to shift gently?
Example: If you’re in Overdrive, maybe take a 10-minute walk without your phone. If you’re in Shutdown, a cold shower or music can help spark momentum.

Managing emotional energy is the real game.
Because…
- A depleted mind makes poor decisions
- A reactive state ruins key relationships
